Drive: Boyd Adams

If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring entrepreneur, what would it be?

Believe in yourself. Trust your gut. I sometimes don’t know if I’m the best person to ask, because I’m always for doing it. If you believe in yourself and you’ve done enough research, I say go for it.

Did you ever question what you were doing?

Because I’ve owned other companies before Adams Collision, I never really questioned the why. I did when I worked for other people. I just didn’t feel like that was what I was meant to do. I think I was meant to lead in some capacity. Being a follower was not working out for me.

If you could go back and talk to yourself when you were first starting out, what would you say?

Really believe in yourself more. Why didn’t you start this sooner? I kick myself for these things sometimes. What’s brought us together, the BNI [Business Networking International] group, took more than two years to get into it. It’s something I should have looked at seriously the first time I visited and realized how it could benefits my business.

What do you look forward to in the future with Adams Collision?

My long-term plan was always to open multiple facilities and grow the business to where I could market it and sell it. My ambition is not to do this forever. We’re in our second location, but it’s not really the end for us. I’d like to open at least one more, possibly two more facilities and market our product to where somebody would want to buy it.

What would you do then?

I’d take a little bit of time to enjoy life. But being self-driven, I don’t think it would be long before I would search to do something rewarding. I see what I do now as rewarding. I get up every morning, and I take a person’s car they felt was devastated, and I put it back in prerequisite condition. When people first come in they’re upset, they’re angry. When they get their car after we repair it, they have a smile on their face and they’re positive. That’s the big thing for me.

Anything else you’d like to add?

For anyone with a drive to do something on their own, I’m always very encouraging. Try it—you can always go back to what you were doing before. If I wake up tomorrow and everything I’ve done so far comes to an end, I know I’ll be successful in doing something else.

  • Boyd is the man! Adams Collision does great work with great service. I have used them and I have referred others. It is refreshing to do business with quality people who have integrity.

  • Adams Collision is superior to any body shop I have used or been affiliated. The level of integrity surpasses all others. The entire Adams family is a class act.

  • Boyd is a very compassionate individual when it comes to fixing a car after an accident. He really cares for his clientele and keeps you in the loop during the process. Even though I “never” had an accident, I had some cosmetic things done to my vehicle. I took my truck to Boyd and he fixed it in a day and was extremely reasonable in cost. I’m going to second Jason’s comment and say, “it’s refreshing to do business with quality people who have integrity.” I am grateful to know you Boyd! Keep up the great work that you do!

  • Each of the three vehicle repairs were performed as outlined in the estimate and completed before the due date. Additionally, I was surprised and pleased to find the vehicles cleaned (interior and exterior). The Adams Collision Team have exceeded my expectations in every way every time.

Your organization is a reminder to me of how businesses can provide professional and memorable customer service.
